These are just a few photos, of the finished boat and what it looks like today.

It was an ambitious project, but I learned a lot about woodworking during the process.

almost thinking about spring

ok, at least were starting to think about spring here ... the ducks came back to the pond on thursday, but after a cold but sunny friday, it snowed again last night, and its in the 20s again today.  the ducks are frozen out of the pond until it warms up again.  its pleasant today, but not like wednesday, when it hit almost 50 and the sky was that incredible blue.  springtime in vermont is something of a tease.  back and forth, forth and back, and on and on for a few weeks.  we should have crocuses in a week or two, but youd never know it today.  click the photos to enlarge them ...

weve had daffodils from the store on the counter for a couple weeks and they are alchoices welcome.
but the back yard and the mountains are looking like winter still
and then youve got the black and white days like this one last week, where the only color in the picture is the stop sign ...
no color at all here
but the barred owls are calling ... nesting time for them soon , and even though the pheobes wont be back for a few weeks,we cleared their  nest off the cornice return this week ...
yeah, its as soft as it looks ... a work of natural art weaving for sure
theres wood to stack.  im outta here ...

what kind of custom dining tables do you make

someone, i forget who, asked me over the holidays, so what type of furniture do you make most often?  my answer was dining tables.  a lot of our projects take longer and require a lot more concentration, organization and problem solving, but im fairly confidant if you asked my guys what their favorite type of project was, youd get the same answer.  dining tables.  one of the reasons may be is the flow of them.  you start. not that long later, you finish.  they leave. you know people will have good times around them ...next project ...
how many different tables have we made over the last 34 years?  more than a hundred for sure.  i put this slide show together as much for my own convenience, so i can find a picture of a table that is not on my website when i want it, and also so folks can see the different styles we work in.  this is certainly not all of the tables we have made, but it does cover some stylistic ground, from high traditional, to contemporary slabs.  click any photo at the link above to start the show, and enjoy your tour.  a few of the highlights are directly below.
some have carved details

some are very traditional
some are made from one slab of wood, in this case bubinga
and some have inlays and specific stylistic details ..
anychoice, there are many different tables in the slide show, and were alchoices on the lookout for new opportunities to stretch our design legs .. send us your ideas and well have at it ..
ps ... im working on getting links from the photos to the blog posts, but it will probably be a while before i finish that part of the show .. enjoy!

Lucys Birthday Kitchen

This was the birthday present I built for my secondgranddaughter when she turned 2 years old.Her very own kitchen.Connie and I designed this ourselves with no plans so it is one of a kind.
The sink is an 8 inch stainless steel mixing bowl.  Check out the real faucets. The stove burners are mahogany.
This is the refrigerator.Like most of this project, it is made of pine.I love working with pine wood.  It is beautiful and easy to work with.
I used dowels for the shelves so they would look more like a real refrigerator. The dowels are made of oak.
Dowels also for the oven racks and a clear plexiglass oven door to give it the feel of a real oven.
The frames for the oven door and pan storage door are made of oak with oak handles also. I love to mix different kinds of wood in my projects.I wish I had taken photos of the construction of this but I was not a blogger then.Anychoice my little darling loves her birthday present.See my  Motorcycle Rocker post if you have not seen it.  Thank you for stopping by my blog.  I would love to hear your comments.Steve.
